Merry Christmas

The staff of The Monticello News wishes everyone a very merry Christmas. By the time you read this, most businesses will be closed for the Christmas holiday.

The Monticello News, like local government offices, is closed today, Dec. 24, Christmas eve, and tomorrow, Dec. 25, Christmas day.

The Monticello Post Office was planning to be open 8:30 a.m. to noon today, Dec. 24, and closed tomorrow. Hamilton State Bank will also be open 8:30 a.m. to noon, both the drive-through and the lobby. The Bank of Monticello drive-through is closed today and tomorrow, but the lobby will be open 10 a.m. to noon today, Dec. 24, Christmas eve.

Monticello Drugs plans to close at 3 p.m. today, Dec. 24, and Ingles will close at 7 p.m. Christmas eve. Monticello Family Foods will close at 6 p.m. today, Dec. 24, and Dairy Queen will close at 2 p.m. All of the above will be closed tomorrow, Christmas day.

Other retail outlets will close early Christmas eve, at varying times. The best bet is to shop early, or call ahead to see if the store you want to shop is open. Some businesses are also closing the day after Christmas.

The Monticello News will be published next week on Thursday, Jan. 2, but will be printed early, so the deadline for everything for next week’s paper is this Friday, Dec. 27, at 5 p.m. Earlier submission is always appreciated.
