What’s Happening at the Chamber?
What’s happening at the Chamber?
This question is partnered with “What’s happening in Monticello” because the Monticello-Jasper County Chamber of Commerce is a hub of events in our community.
I have a wall now in the Visitor’s Center that is dedicated to community events so everyone can see there is an array of opportunities to be active in Monticello.
This past Sunday, your COC hosted the Annual Deer Pageant to select our “Little Miss Fawn” and “Deer Festival Queen”. Congratulations Miss Fawn Isabel White, as well as all the adorable young ladies competing for that role.
Congratulations to all our beautiful young women in the Queen contest. The judges were viewing Jasper County’s finest and on Saturday, Nov. 2, during the Deer Festival, we will hear their selection as our Festival Queen for 2013-2014.
As we prepare for the Deer Festival, applications are steadily coming in for the Deer Dash.
Come run or walk with us for the 5K or 1 mile Fun Run. This is one of the highlights of the fall season for this county. Many of your friends and family are runners but you may not know it! The fun starts at 6:30 a.m. for registration at the Chamber located on the Monticello Square. Register by tomorrow to be sure to get your t-shirt size, and to get the early registration fee of $25.
Also, there is still time to get a float in the parade, but you must sign up quickly. Carol Ann McMichael can help with a float. Call her at 706-318-2632 to inquire about floats.
Anyone who wants to be in the parade must sign up, and the parade applications are available at the COC office, right next to City Hall. And, there are still a few spaces left for vendors for the festival, so call or come by right away to reserve your space.
But wait – – before Nov. 2 arrives…
Hauunnticelllo arrives!!!
Actually it is Haunticello, but at the Chamber we have a unique opportunity with a professional costume makeup artist presenting a seminar so you can dress up for Halloween with a different face this year! Come see this artist at work on Friday, Oct. 25.
Beginning at 5 p.m. you can learn to apply your own face makeup to compliment your Halloween costume.
But wait—the week of Haunticello will be active in the Chamber with Extreme Poe!
Reciting this celebrated author is William Hunt in costume and character for an exciting evening to heighten your anticipation for Hallow’s Eve.
