Shopping Locally

Several of us Silver Foxes decided to eat lunch downtown in Monticello last week. We chose the Vanilla Bean restaurant, because one of the girls had not been there.

Afterwards, one of the Foxes was on a quest to find one of those metal snake necklaces and heard rumors that one of the stores on the square had them.

We were about the only ones catting around the square, too windy and cold for window shopping.

First on our list was Fincher’s Recycled Treasures, but they must have been off looking for treasures, so we walked down to Maw Maw’s Place. Although she didn’t have the necklace, we did find some bargains.

We ducked our heads in long enough to say welcome to Dr. Lindsey Holman at Heartland Chiropractic. Then on to Sunrise Gifts and Thrift, again no luck on the hunt for necklace, but they have good prices and stock.

Monticello Drugs gift area has lots of cute things, but alas no snake necklaces. We saw an open sign on the door of the former Plant Parlor and met the new owner, Carol, at Miss Fancy’s Plants, full of pretty arrangements.

Finally we had circled the square which is quite a feat, joke. But before we headed back to the car, we saw The Silver Rabbit all decorated up for spring and went in and found that snake necklace.

It is always good to find just what your looking for without driving all over the place. Next door, the Snap’n Turtle snapped us up for a few minutes as we oohed and aahed over the too cute Easter fashions. Those outfits will make some lad or lassy a fashionista.

We really enjoyed our girls afternoon and look forward to another one real soon when we can go off the Square to more shops. Why not get your friends together and enjoy a few hours downtown and support our local merchants.

And have a Happy Easter.
