Winter Blues

Hope the flu has flown by your house as so many are suffering with it this year.

While researching to write my mother’s life history, I read about the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic that killed and sickened up to 100 million worldwide.

The school girls of that time would sing a little poem as they jumped rope, “I had a little bird and his name was Enza. I opened the window and In-Flu-Enza.”

A-Choo! To help keep you from catching the flu, we are told to wash our hands frequently.

As a child I was taught to sing “Happy Birthday” while washing my hands to make sure I did it for the right length of time. Even as a Senior citizen, the song still rings in my ears as I wash my hands.

The weather folks are predicting an Artic blast to arrive soon, hopefully it will kill off some of our pesky bugs including the flu bug.

Stay warm, get some extra cans of chicken noodle soup just in case, and here’s good wishes for you to have health and wealth in the coming year!
