Christmas Memories

Most everyone has at least one fond memory of a Christmas gift that was special to them.

Betty says she still remembers how much she liked a pink corduroy housecoat that her mother made her. She described how the corduroy was soft, and the coat had an empire waist and a bow.

Doris said her family did not have a lot of money for gifts, but they did go to church every Christmas Eve. When they were leaving the services, the church gave them apples, oranges and nuts to take home.

Tommye says she was in love with horses as a child and one year she got an Annie Oakley gun and holster set.

Glenda loved getting a photo album filled with her childhood pictures.

Some folks just appreciated a few snowflakes on Christmas Day one year, or their family being together and always there was mention of the bounty of food.

According to the weather report for Christmas Eve in Jasper County, we will have balmy low 50s, clear skies, best to see Santa as he steers his sleigh our way.

May you have a special Christmas this year and a Merry Christmas to all!
