Belly Fat Be Gone
In my experience, people that are overweight have most of their unwanted pounds in their midsection. After many years of studying and practicing healthy habits, I have compiled a short list of ways to get rid of belly fat.
1. Use safflower oil to cook with or in dressings for salads. Safflower oil contains linoleic acids, or omega 6 fatty acids that are not easily absorbed as fat compared to saturated animal fat. Some researchers believe that it actually aids in reducing belly fat and increasing muscle mass.
Consuming 7-10 grams of oil per day, or 3 teaspoons of sunflower seeds per day will provide an adequate amount to produce results.
2. Skip breakfast. This will make some people cringe – namely my Mother. According to Dr. Mark Liponis, author of The Hunter/Farmer Diet Solution, “people with big bellies who eat breakfast end up consuming more calories throughout the day.”
He believes that those that carry additional belly fat need more time to build an appetite and should eat lunch and dinner only, otherwise they will likely graze all day.
3. Just say no to your carbohydrate addiction. A low-glycemic diet that is high in protein will fuel your metabolism. If you need to eat something that resembles a starch, have a side of mashed cauliflower to lose weight and whittle your middle.
4. For those that enjoy exercise, try sprints. Just 15-20 minutes of interval training will increase your metabolism, burn fat and fuel your muscles.
An interval workout can be done while running, biking or swimming. Actually any exercise you choose to do, going all out for 30 seconds with a 90 second rest, will work to decrease belly fat. For quick results, interval training should be done two times a week.
5. Eat more avocados and whole grains and drink more green tea. These are all natural fat burners and should be easily accessible at home, work or school.
Try one or all of these practical prescriptions but remember there are no magic remedies. I remain convicted in my belief that eating right combined with exercise always works.
