Eating to Live

It was a quiet week around here until a sharp pain in my right side got sharper, HELP!

After a trip to the emergency room, a shot of happy juice, then back home, I had to face the reality that I am sure many of you have faced. As I discovered the choices were not good, either stop eating so much fat or have the gall bladder jerked out.

Fat free, reduced fat, what does that mean? I was raised on lard-induced biscuits, tasty greens interlaced with slabs of fat back or bacon, grits and sausage.

Changing to a “fat free” life style, how hard could that be; surely food scientists have made some yummy foods that fit into that category.

As I used my magnifying glass to read the nutritional facts required by law to be printed on every food product label, quickly, I learned finding a fat free, reduced fat food was an uphill climb. Oh, sure, there are some, but then those products are all sugar. What’s left? Yum, move over cows, I’ll be out there munching on the greens, too.

Alas, from now on, I eat to live, not live to eat and as Dr. Kenny said, “If it tastes good, spit it out!”
