Finding Monticello

At first it seemed like a fluke that our little ole off-the-beaten path town and county was being frequently mentioned during the Atlanta TV weather.

Ken Cook, chief meteorologist, at Channel 5 seemed to take a shine to saying “and the storm is moving eastward towards Monticello”. From then on every weatherman or woman was mentioning Monticello and Jasper County, Stormtracker, WizoMeter, and Severe Weather Team 2.

Maybe all this recognition will help when someone asks where you live. When you tell them Monticello, you mostly get a questioning stare. As you mumble out directions to Monticello, you lose them around, “and then take Georgia 36 south.”
