Do I Love it?

I was once told that the difference between me and most other people is that I really love to exercise; as opposed to others who just do it because they know it’s good for them. I thought that was interesting and maybe even half correct.

I do love exercise, but I love it the most when I it’s OVER! Sorry to disappoint.

Although I don’t always look forward to exercising, I know the benefits far out-weigh the alternative. Exercise improves my mood, makes me feel strong and entitles me to small rewards usually in the form of a piece of dark chocolate or a glass of wine.

Exercise keeps me at a set weight so that my clothes fit year after year. That makes exercise an economical advantage for those that have multiple sized wardrobes.

Exercise makes me feel young and capable. I am able to do most things that people half my age can do. It also prevents many aches and pains that come with age and/or an unhealthy weight.

There are certain days I have designated for a mode of exercise that I know I need but is not my favorite. Those days bring more dread and resistance. After my moaning, groaning and complaining, I show up; usually with a workout buddy with a prearranged time and place so I don’t talk myself out of going.

Do I love to exercise? Not always, but I do love the way it makes me feel when I’m done. Next time you are dreading exercise or talking yourself out of going, remember it won’t last forever and you won’t regret having done it!

P.S. If you don’t feel better after exercising, you may need to consult a doctor for treatment of

“Nothing makes me happy syndrome.”
