Back to School
The squeal of the brakes on the yellow school bus stopping at the corner early this morning reminded me, it’s the first day of school for Jasper County students.
Notebooks, now devoid of who loves who or hastily scribbled notes, are full of three-hole, lined notebook paper. Pencils still with erasers and sharp points fill the pouches of new or vintage backpacks.
It’s a great day as students and teachers meet for the first time discussing expectations for a successful year at school and probably best of all, seeing all their old pals and some new ones, too.
Long hot summer days will soon be forgotten as mornings soon will be crisp enough to shock the sleepiness from young eyes as they wait at the bus stop.
Oh, there’s those squealing brakes again, first day of school is over. Best of luck to our students, staff and especially the teachers and may this year be your best yet!
