Outdoor Signs

Sometimes you see one of those portable lighted signs on the side of the road and you just want to turn around and go by once more to make sure you just read what you thought you read.

Just such a sign is over on Hwy. 36 going towards Covington in front of a convenience store, it reads “Cigarettes, Cold Beer and Used Guns.” Admit it, all three of those things individually are lethal, but put together that just ain’t right.

A few years ago in this newspaper I read an ad for collards, it said “3 for $10 or 2 for $5.” Do the math folks!

Driving by a strip shopping center recently, there was a guy waving a sign in each hand, one said “Gold,” the other said “Pizza.”
Yep, gold and pizza, it’s such a natural combo.

My all-time favorite sign was outside the only restaurant in a small town in Utah.

I’m sure it was the drawing card for this restaurant. In big red letters it read, “Yes, We Have Beaver.”

I have a picture of that sign somewhere.
