Julieann Is Now a Teenager

Hello there fellow Jasper Countians! I have missed you and hope that all is well.

I hope that you have enjoyed the last three weeks of ADITL as the children have shared with you a few of their days in the family. I have to tell you that I am very proud of them and think they did a terrific job! But hey…I am a little biased, after all, that’s my job!

Something happened in our family while I was away that I must share with you. This…thing that took place has me off balance and a little troubled.

All of a sudden coffee no longer tastes the same. My clothes don’t seem to fit right, my hair is falling out, and I feel like I’m shrinking. It seems like my car’s mileage is getting worse, my feet hurt, swimming hurts, chocolate tastes nasty, spicy food is too hot, I hate to fish, and I think I am developing a love for hymnals.

I tell you…this thing has me all screwed up!!!
What could be so terrible? What could have me so out of sorts? Well I’ll tell you…my sweet little precious little perfect little princess little bundle of female perfection first daughter has turned 13 years old! Right here in my own house!

One minute she is this little blonde porcelain doll who thinks that Dad is the greatest in the world, and the next minute she is a certified teenager who has taken her first step towards “My Dad Is A Total Idiot”!!! AAAAHHHHH!

We got the gifts, baked the cake, did the whole swimming party thing and it was great; but now I’m mad. I don’t know who gave her permission to pull this one off, but if I find you, you’re going down!

Oh!…Oh! And if you are a boy, don’t even think about calling my house and being all like…“Hello Mr. Parr, may I please speak with your highly respected and precious daughter Julieann? I will only speak with her for five regimented minutes, and I will keep my conversation mundane and benign.”

Hey kid…I can see through you, and I will totally flip out on you!
Look, I am trying to handle this one as positively as I possibly can. I understand that our children must grow; after all, that’s why we feed them. I just thought this would happen a little slower.
Julieann is my precious first little girl. She is perfect and she is my life…and now she is thirteen. God bless her eye-rolling little heart!

Jason, father of six
