Poor Mothers
Week 1, school is out. Poor mother looks out of her kitchen window and sees her children staring back at her in disgust. All year the kiddies have complained, “we never get to go outside at school and play, we have to stay in our seats, read, write and learn stuff.”
Poor mother has heard their cries and now they have been given the opportunity to play, run, get some fresh air. The children are confused and see it as some form of child abuse. Kiddies use time to strategize next move.
Week 2, the kiddies begin to use the word “bored” a lot. “I’m bored. I don’t get to be with my friends and laugh. This place is so boring.” The plan is working, Poor mother is being beaten down and filled with guilt.
“All our friends are going to Six Flags, they have season passes. Our friends have pools and really cool mothers who haul them from point A to point B.”
Poor Mother realizes after consulting the calendar there are seven weeks left until school starts. What to do? Week 3 through 9, Poor mother gets a plan, stay outside, the kiddies will never come out there. She can get a great tan and plenty of fresh air, albeit hot air.
And she bands together with other Poor Mothers to form sort of a club with each one hauling, feeding and entertaining for their week. For information, see their website www.poormothersunite.com. Happy Summer Monticello! Just kiddin’ about the website!
