I’m Fixing To Pay My Property Taxes
I’m fixing to pay my property taxes.
There’s still about 10 or 12 days before it’s due, but I think I’ll just go ahead and get it off my list of things to do.
I’ve heard some folks say their property taxes were less than they were last year, but that’s not exactly true.
The amount due might have gone down a few dollars, but if you compare that decrease to the decrease in property value, that argument doesn’t hold water.
Mine also turned out to be about nine percent less than it was last year, however, my property decreased about 18 percent, so I figure the bill I got was a whopping tax increase.
I also hear government statistics which say there is no inflation. I remember not too long ago when a can of chicken broth costs 54 cents, and now it cost 74 cents, which is a 25 percent increase. They must of forgotten to take chicken broth into their calculations.
Sometimes madness seems to sweep over the country and people just lose their judgement.
They elect boobies into the highest offices, who forget everything men have learned by experiment and experience.
Nations as well as dull witted folks know the way to save is to save; but in these times of madness, you hear them insisting that the way to save is to spend, and the way to conserve is to splurge.
Never fear, our leaders know what to do. If they need more money, they just print some!
But that’s not the way it works. The more they print, the less they’ll have; and those that lose the most are the ones that have the least to lose.
If we continue in that direction pretty soon you’ll need a wheelbarrow full of money just to buy yourself a can of chicken broth.
If the way to save is to spend, then I suppose the way to swim is to sink. If the way to conserve is to splurge, then I suppose the way to walk is on your hands.
The good news is that we’ll awaken from this madness and realize if you have a leaky boat you don’t have to sink, but rather, you can repair it and keep afloat.
But the first step you have to be fixing to take is to drag the boat out of the water.
