Tiebreaker Decides Contest

Tim Anglin won last week’s football contest by correctly picking the winners in 14 of the 15 games listed. He prevented dominance by the Parker family with his tiebreaker guess of 28 points, one off the 21-6 win by Monticello over Hancock Central last Friday.
Mr. Anglin picked up a $25 prize from Nolan McMichael, the son of Joseph and Brandi McMichael, proprietors of McMichael’s Package Store, last week’s contest sponsor.
Both Anna and Denise Parker also correctly guessed the winners in 14 of the 15 games listed last week, but they were both further off the tiebreaker guess. They both missed a perfect score by predicting West Virginia to beat Auburn, but Auburn prevailed, 41-30.
Mr. Anglin’s only miss was Pittsburgh, loser to Chicago, 17-14. Seventeen other players got 13 right, and 32 correctly guessed the winners in 12 games, so their names were all added to the honor roll to be included for the Grand Prize package to the Chick-Fil-A Bowl in Atlanta.
More than 200 entries were received. The contest is a combination of high school, college and prefessional contests, making it difficult to guess the outcomes.
This week’s sponsor is Fox & Yeomans Insurance Company, and the winner will receive a $25 check from Kelly Fox.
Monticello’s game again is the tiebreaker. Those watching last week’s Georgia-Arkansas game were glad it wasn’t the tiebreaker.
The deadline to enter is 5 p.m. tomorrow, Sept. 25.
