Five Qualify For District 3 Commission Election

Jasperites in District 3 will have lots of choice when they go to the polls November 3 to determine who will represent them for the remainder of this term.

Chris Batchelor, Jack Bernard, Kathy Britt, Rusty Bullard, and Nancy Stafford all qualified for the position by the deadline of noon, yesterday.

The contest is to fill the unexpired term of Ronnie Payne who was elected last year, and resigned at the beginning of this month. The special election is only for voters in District 3, but because it is such a large district, all but one precinct will be involved, said Probate Judge and Elections Superintendent Linda Mock.

Chief Registrar Carole Norris reminds everyone that the deadline to register to vote in that election is Monday, Oct. 5, and anyone who is unsure of his or her status may contact her at 706-468-4908 to determine their eligibility to vote.
