Local Teen Wins Fun Run

Jasper County Middle School (JCMS) student Lauren Crumbley won the girls division of the Cross Country event at the Peach Festival Fun Run in Ft. Valley on Saturday June 20. She came in second over all.

Lauren is an upcoming eighth grader at JCMS. She has been training all summer with her father, Rick Crumbley. They train at the middle school track each Monday and Wednesday at 7 p.m., and at the Charlie Elliott Multi Use Trail to actually run Cross Country, on Friday’s at 6 p.m.

Mr. Crumbley said he would like to start up a Middle School Cross Country Team, and he also plans to call on the Jasper County Recreation Department about setting up a 3.3 mile loop trail to run Cross Country on.

Lauren will continue training all summer and will be running one race per month from now through September. He next race is at Amicalola Falls on July 25.
