Russell Gross Is Sworn as Mayor Pro-tem

Probate Court Judge Linda Mock administered the oath of office to Russell Gross Monday as he is sworn to serve as Mayor Pro-tem of Monticello.

Mr. Gross won the special election held in conjunction with the mid-term elections earlier this month. Ronald James had also sought the post. Mayor Pro-tem serves at large for the city of Monticello, and would preside over meetings and other events if the mayor is not present.

The vacancy was created when Otis Clark resigned earlier this year.

Mr. Gross will serve the remainder of this year and all of next year when he will have to seek election again. Witnessing the swearing in Monday afternoon were a number of city employees, friends and interested citizens.
