I Forgot

I forgot what I was fixing to do.
I knew I had come into this room for some specific reason, but for the life of me I couldn’t remember what the devil it was.

I figured if I just stood there long enough it would come to me, except I didn’t want someone else to walk in and see me standing in the middle of the room like some lost soul and ask me what I was doing just standing there.

The last thing I wanted to do was have to tell someone I was attempting to recall what I was doing there.

I looked all around hoping something would jar my memory and reveal the purpose of my visit, but nothing did, so I decided to retrace my steps in the hopes that it would come to me.

After I walked back to the room I had originally come from, at first I couldn’t remember why I had come into that room.

But then I did remember that I had come to that room to attempt to remember why I had gone into the room where I couldn’t remember what I was there for.

Now I was getting somewhere. At least I could remember why I was in this room, even though that didn’t tell me why I couldn’t remember what I was in the room where I couldn’t remember what I was in there for before I came into this room.

I decided to go back to the room where I originally couldn’t remember what I was there for and see if I could remember where I had gone from there.

But once there I couldn’t remember why I was back in the room where I couldn’t remember what I was there for, or even why I had left it to try to remember why I had come there in the first place.
I’m fixing to go out on the porch with a glass of iced tea and forget about everything.
