Zoning Commission Plans Changes
Plan on building a home in Jasper County in the future? If so, one might expect square footage residential requirements to increase from 1500 to 1800.
And if you’re not quite ready to build a home yet and thinking about purchasing a manufactured home, perhaps you should pay closer attention to the actions of the Jasper County Planning & Zoning Commission.
The JCP&Z commission has a public hearing slated for Thursday, March 23 to acquire input from residents about two proposed amendments. The first amendment could raise residential square footage requirements in R1-40 and R2-15 zones from 1500 heated living space to 1800 heated living space. The other amendment would eliminate manufactured homes from residential zoning categories.
Both amendments were presented during the February 23 meeting of the commission but tabled for later consideration. Later will come next Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Courthouse Annex located at 162 North Warren Street.
Copies of the proposed amendments can be reviewed at the Zoning Office or acquired by calling 468-4905.
