Planning Work Session Held
Jasper County Planning and Zoning board members recently conducted a work session, tagged as an orientation by zoning director Chris Anderson, to discuss various zoning issues.
Mr. Anderson provided board members Debby Dammann, Lee Holman, Justin Owens, John Moore, and Joe Lewis with an informational binder intended as a guide. The zoning director said that the board considers three types of important documents—the comprehensive plan, zoning ordinances, and subdivision regulations.
Board members also have three major issues for which they are responsible including zoning change requests, subdivision reviews, and text corrections, according to Mr. Anderson.
Other discussions among the board, zoning director, and commission chairman Jack Bernard centered around conservation subdivisions, modifying requirements for minimum house sizes and mobile homes, the future land use map, ethics, threat of lawsuits, terms and language of the zoning commission, meeting procedures/bylaws.
Mr. Holman raised the question of being able to vote on the well setback issue and setting goals for ordinance completion as soon as possible. Mr. Anderson advised that those issues, as well as the junk ordinance could be placed February’s agenda.
