Brady McMichael Wins Drawing; Headed to the Peach Bowl
Brady McMichael, an avid player of The Monticello News football contest, was the grand prize winner of the Peach Bowl tickets given away Monday.
Brady’s name was on the honor roll two times. His sister, Brandy, had made the honor roll once.
Neither of his parents, Jay and Kim McMichael, were on the honor roll, but his cousin, Walt, and uncle, Greg, were both on the honor roll two times, also. Brady’s grandfather, Tom Brady brought him to The News office Monday “to see who won,” so News staff got to surprise him with the announcement.

He didn’t show his excitement much, but family members said later he did. The drawing was scheduled for 12:30 p.m. but was held a little later when Shawne Holder brought in a news item for the paper. We knew she was not on the honor roll, so we asked her to draw.
Joanne Jordan and Pop Smith had been in a heated race all season, both being named to the honor roll seven times, but although their names were in the cookie jar the most times, Brady’s was the one chosen.
The Peach Bowl is set for Friday, Dec. 30 in Atlanta (see related story). A bowl contest sponsored by the Bank of Monticello for a pair of Sugar Bowl tickets will be included in next week’s Monticello News.
