No More Bones Found
Jasper County sheriff’s investigator Jerry Robinson said this week that no more clues had been found to connect the bone found in a yard on September 11 with a man that has been missing since late May.
A search turned up one more bone, which turned out to belong to an animal. No other evidence has been located. It is possible to do a DNA test on the bone, said the investigator, to try to match it to George Cates, the missing man.
However, the cost of the test is $1,500, and early this week Mr. Robinson wasn’t sure it would be performed. He said he needed to talk back to the forensic doctor who is out of town this week.
In Monticello, police Captain Bobby Norris confirmed that the youth hurt on a bicycle last Wednesday morning is out of the hospital and recuperating. He was at school this week, walking with crutches.
The captain also confirmed that the department is investigating break-ins that have occurred over the last month at Big Chic and Monticello Farm & Garden Center.
