More Money Expected for Funderburg Park

A $225,000 federal grant has been earmarked for Monticello’s Funderburg Park, according to Mayor Susan Holmes.

The funds will come through the state Department of Community Affairs and will not require any matching funds said the mayor who recently returned from Washington where she worked to have the funds allocated in the current budget.

The money will be used to continue development of the park, where athletic fields, nature trails, gazebos and a support structure are among facilities envisioned in the park master plan but so far unfunded.
