Two Accidents Stop Morning Traffic on Hwy. 212

Highway 212 west of Monticello, not far from its intersection with Jackson Lake Road, was a mess last Friday morning, as two accidents occurred within minutes of each other.

Initially, Amber Evon Ballie of Augusta was traveling east on Hwy. 212 in a white 1994 Ford Mustang when her car struck Benjamin Brown, Jr., of Covington, who was attempting to make a left turn into a driveway. He was driving a 1971 Chevrolet Cheyenne. There were no injuries reported.

Meanwhile, James Robert Dockery was also traveling east on Hwy. 212 and saw the accident scene. He stopped well before it allowing emergency officials uninhibited access.

He was driving a 2002 Ford F-250. Soon thereafter, Mindy Roper, driving a 2001 Pontiac Sunfire pulled up behind Mr. Dockery and stopped.

Then, Jessica Alcares, driving a 1994 Buick LeSabre was blinded by the sun and ran into the back of Miss Roper’s car. That slammed Miss Roper’s vehicle into Mr. Dockery’s. None of the persons reported serious injuries, and all refused treatment and transport. Parents of the juveniles involved were notified.

Deputy Charles Cook with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office investigated the accidents and completed the accident reports. No violations were cited.
