The campus police were summoned to bus no. 92-1 Friday afternoon because of a problem with a student. The student was taken off the bus by campus police and taken home.
Mr. Smith, the student’s parent, apparently thought the problem was with the driver, not the student, so he took the issue into his own hands. He boarded the bus at Loyd Cemetery and James Benton Road in north Jasper.
The bus driver, Mrs. Frances Dell Massey, tried to prevent Mr. Smith from entering the bus, but was unable to stop him. She keyed the microphone when Mr. Smith came aboard. He began cursing her. He tried to take the microphone away from her, jerking it from her hand, and throwing it out of the bus.
Mrs. Massey had delivered all but two students home when the incident occurred. Those two students witnessed the entire incident.
The warrants were taken by Campus Police Chief Thaxton Pennamon who responded to the call.
The case will be heard in Jasper Superior Court.
