Hospital Spreads Good News

There was enough pre-Thanksgiving good news to go around for Jasper County Health Services, Inc. board members who were informed last week that Jasper Memorial Hospital (JMH) and the Retreat, jointly, earned a $40,000 profit in October.

Curt Roberts, Chief Executive Officer of JMH, was elated at the recent financial progress of the local medical facility. In addition to being “out of the red” last month, the CEO announced that the hospital had received another Dept. of Community Health grant award for $9,700. {{more}}

The recent turnaround of the facility’s financial status is a welcomed change after facing the possibility of closing its doors not so long ago — a predicament to which several rural hospitals have already fallen prey.

The hospital’s financial upswing couldn’t have come at a more appropriate time, with the celebration of the facility’s 50th anniversary scheduled for December 15 from 2-4 p.m. With a theme of “For the Next Fifty Years”, the celebration will feature a ground breaking ceremony for proposed renovations (due to begin in January) and the annual Love Lite Tree ceremony.

More details on the meeting may be found in the December 5 print edition of The Monticello News.
