Playground Will Be Memorial to Family
ATLANTA (AP)—Brad Cunard, whose wife and two children were killed by a falling tree in July, says he will help build a playground that will honor his family.
A heavy storm pushed over a 100-year-old oak tree that crushed the sport utility vehicle carrying 38-old Lisa Cunard, 3-year-old Max and 5-month-old Owen. They were killed instantly. Brad Cunard was driving the vehicle, but he was not injured.

The idea for the playground came from neighbors who wanted to memorialize the family. Cunard said he thinks it would bring joy to other children.
“It’s going to be another way for them to live on,” said Cunard. “I’m very grateful and very touched by the effort.”
The playground is planned for John Howell Park on Virginia Avenue.
Construction is slated for Nov. 15 and will cost about $52,000. The Virginia-Highland Civic Association pledged $17,500.
