Two People Killed in Car Wreck

Two persons died as a result of a single-vehicle accident in northern Jasper County just before 10 a.m. Sunday.

First responders and emergency medical personnel spent considerable time trying to free the driver who was pinned in the car. The car was wedged between trees, two of which had to be cut down to get to the victim. Another victim, a passenger in the vehicle, was thrown from the vehicle.

Mazheruddin Mohammed, 30, was the driver of the vehicle, according to the report from the Georgia State Patrol, Madison post. The passenger who also died was Samara Naseer, 27, who was a passenger in the back seat. Both had a Locust Grove address.

Two other persons were injured in the accident, but not seriously.

According to the accident report from the Georgia State Patrol, the 2003 Toyota Corolla was traveling north on Hwy. 83 near the Jasper-Morgan line at a “higher than safe” rate.

The car left the east road edge and the driver’s side hit a tree, the report said, and rotated crosswise then came to rest beside the roadway. The road was wet, which contributed to the accident.

Two Jasper County ambulances and an ambulance from National Ambulance Company based in Madison were used to take the victims to the hospital.

Mr. Mohammed died at Newton General Hospital in Covington and Ms. Naseer died at the Medical Center of Central Georgia (MCCG) in Macon. The two other victims were also taken to MCCG.

The road was closed to traffic for about an hour while the extrication was underway. Shady Dale and Monticello first responders took part in the rescue.
