COC Annual Dinner Is January 17
The annual Monticello-Jasper County Chamber of Commerce dinner is scheduled for Tuesday, January 17, at the Charlie Elliott Conference Center, 563 Elliott Trail (located off Highway 11 North).
Everyone is invited to join the 2006 Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and the old and new Chamber of Commerce members, for a buffet style dinner and a fun evening out with neighbors and friends.
The evening will begin with a social hour starting at 6:30 p.m., complete with a cash bar and music provided by Les Steele. There will also be a pictorial display of interesting and informative historic photographs of Jasper County, hosted by our honorary citizen Benny Hawthorne. Dinner begins at 7:30 p.m.
The program will include introductions to the 2006 Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors with remarks by outgoing President Tricia Armistead and incoming Chairman of the Board, Don Morgan.
The guest speaker for the evening’s program will be Ron Frieson, the newly appointed State President of Bellsouth.

One of the features of the dinner is the announcement of the Citizen of the Year, which is a Chamber sponsored program that recognizes an individual who resides in Jasper County and has made a positive contribution to the community throughout the past year.
This citizen is chosen via a special committee of citizens who debate and discuss the nominees until a final recipient is named. The decision is then kept secret until the Annual Dinner when the chosen nominee’s name is revealed to all in attendance.
“Fabulous and exciting door prizes will once again be a part of the evening’s festivities,” according to Sage Edwards, COC interim director.
The Chamber of Commerce, Better Hometown Program and the Downtown Development Authority sponsor the “Shop Monticello” initiative, so many of the prizes are donated by our local businesses in addition to the great prizes from some of our regional businesses.
Ticket prices are $30 in advance until 5 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10. All dinner guests are asked to RSVP by Friday, January 13.
All tickets purchased after the 10th, including those at the door, will be $35 per person. Please call Ms. Edwards at the COC office at 706-468-8994 to make reservations or for more information.
