Downtown Business Is Burglarized
Businesses in downtown Monticello continue to be subjects of break-ins as Zoe’s Place on the north side of the Square was broken into Wednesday morning.
The incident appears to have happened before daybreak when someone apparently threw a planter through the rear window at 134 West Greene Street and entered the business. A stereo speaker valued at approximately $200 was the only thing noticed missing at the time of this report. Damage to the window was also appraised at approximately $200.
Adam McGinnis is the owner of the building. The Silver Rabbit gift shop and McMichael’s Stop ‘N Shop, on the same side of the Square as Zoe’s were broken into on February 5. No arrests have been made. An armed robbery occurred at Circle K, about a half-mile from the Square on January 9. That incident is also still under investigation.
