Talent Show Winners Are Named

The Monticello High School boys trio took top honors at the annual Monticello Kiwanis Talent Show Tuesday night.

The trio, made up of Stephen Hopper, Kris Agustin and Cody Caho, sang “The Animals Are Coming.” Second place honors in that class went to Hunter Smith for his original composition of “Grace.” Jeremy Chupp took third place playing “Play That Funky Music” on the drums.

Those winners were in “Class A” which is tenth through twelfth grades. They go on to compete in a district competition next month.

Robert Pulliam took first place in “Class B” seventh through ninth grades juggling to “Forward Motion.” Second place went to Angelia Brown who sang, “Jesus Take the Wheel.” Third place was awarded to Shea Fivecoat who sang, “Independence Day.”

Allison Scroggs was the first place finisher in “Class C” first through sixth grades. Miss Scroggs sang “Germs” and was accompanied on the piano by her mother, Mrs. Amy Scroggs. Mrs. Scroggs was also the accompanist for second place finisher Olivia Aldridge, who sang, “Shine Jesus Shine.” Third place went to Mary Kelly singing, “God Bless the Broken Road.”

Other participants in the talent show included Micah Tyler, Unita Harris, Will Eckerle, Helen Dennis, Amanda Jackson, Feyanti Clark, Meg Eckerle, Megan Hammonds, Sarah Andrews, Abigail Armendariz and Mary Andrews, Breanna Burton and Chelsea Kamplain, Hanna Dennis, Sarah Fraser, Bethany Cargile, Shannon Lewis and Laina Johnston, Cori Griggs, Rachel Lewis, Magen Norris, Julieann Parr, Kayla Sanders, Dalton Sanders and Hannah Fisher.

The Kiwanis reported that it was an excellent show, and the judges had a hard time making up their minds with all the young talent shown.
Proceeds from the event benefit numerous local charities.
