JCWSA Approves Bridge Funds

A quorum of Jasper County Water & Sewer Authority members voted unanimously, during a called meeting Saturday afternoon, to allocate $6,250 for the purpose of installing pipe on the entrances of the Hwy. 16 bridge.

The action was in response to a proposal, dated May 25, from Robert White of Rogers Bridge Company addressed to Frank Sherrill, JCWSA engineer. Mr. White said the construction company could furnish and install class III 24 inch reinforced concrete pipe for a cost of $6,250.
The pipe is intended for the future use of carrying 16-inch water mains underneath the bridge’s approach slabs.

The letter further stated that if the authority was interested in proceeding with the project at the proposed cost the company should be notified as soon as possible since the pouring of the slabs was approximately two weeks away.

According to chairman Tom Brazil, whose term as chairman concluded yesterday, the proposal was approved 7-0. He said that the recent proposal was too good of an opportunity to pass on with previous quotes for the bridge connection ranging up to 300,000.

Mr. Brazil also applauded Ken McMichael and Mr. Sherrill for working diligently on the project.

The next regular meeting of the JCWSA is scheduled for Tuesday, June 6 at 6 p.m in the Bank of Monticello annex.
