Haygood, Lynch, Harris, Melton and Watson, LLP, has announced that Mrs. Jehan Y. El-Jourbagy will join the law firm as an associate attorney on Monday, August 14.

Mrs. El-Jourbagy is originally from Monticello, where she graduated from jasper County High School as salutatorian in 1996. She received degrees in journalism and political science from the University of Georgia in 2000, graduating with high honors, and she also studied at the American University in Cairo for a semester.

In 2000, Mrs. El-Jourbagy was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa academic honor society.

She received her law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law, and spent a year as a visiting student at the University of Oregon School of Law. During the summers, Mrs. El-Jourbagy worked for a law firm in London, England and for legal advocacy groups in Oregon.

For the last year, she served as a judicial law clerk for judges in the Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit, which includes Jasper, Baldwin, Green, Hancock, Jones, Morgan, Putnam, and Wilkinson counties. Her work with judges resulted in a familiarity with court room protocol and the local legal community, and she gained greater experience in Georgia legal research and writing.
