3-Year-Old Is Hero

Three-year-old Cody Myrick’s mother, Rebecca Myrick, a 911 dispatcher with Newton County, taught her son well.

Master Myrick, who lives on Pelican Circle in Turtle Cove, was playing in his front yard last week when he noticed the man who was working to clear the lot across the street from his house was lying unconscious.

According to Ms. Myrick the child came inside and said “Momma, call 911, that man needs you!”

After verifying that Mr. James Johnson did indeed need help, Ms. Myrick called 911 and Mr. Johnson was revived and treated for a possible allergic reaction to a sting.

“I might not be around now if not for that little boy,” said Mr. Johnson.

Ed Westbrook, Jasper County Emergency Services Director, said he thinks the three-year-old is responsible for saving the man’s life.
