Do It Again
I’m fixing to do it again.
I know I said I was through with politics, but just give me one last crack at it and I might shut up. The thing is, I’m still concerned about this stimulus stuff. After all the big ones, little baby ones keep popping up every day like a Jack-In-The-Box.
After all those billions to the banks, insurance companies and car companies, you would think they would finally stop trying to take our money and throw it into black holes.
While the government tells us things are tough, I’ll guarantee those senators, congresspersons, and their entire staffs, along with some lobbyist friends, are all dining at Ruth’s Chris Steak House.
And another thing, while we’re fixing to be laying off and furloughing school teachers, has anyone heard about any elected officials receiving the same treatment? How about cuts in their pay?
And how about those celebrities who tell us on TV that we should tighten our belts and not go out to eat. I wonder how restaurants, their employees and vendors feel when a person of wealth and influence announces on TV that one of the cures for the current downturn was to stop going out to eat? I’ll wager that person is dining weekly at The Palm.
I wish entertainers would stay out of politics because all they do is muddy up the water using their forum to express their misguided political views, which nobody cares about anyway. Really, all it does is make me refrain from watching any more of their movies.
I believe we ought to quit referring to our elected officials as Politicians, and call them Public Servants, because that’s what they are. Why can’t they at least act like they have some common sense?
Why can’t service to the country by politicians be similar to service in the military? If people want to serve the country as a career they ought to join the military instead of fixing to get themselves elected over and over to some well paying political office, where they surround themselves by special interests scabs, while they lose touch with the world.
I’m fixing to try my best to not talk about politics anymore.
