Will Parker Is Only One with 14 Correct

Will Parker and Bobbi Jean Ozburn

Will Parker was the only contest player this week to pick the winner in 14 of the 15 games listed in last week’s contest.

Seven other players had 13 correct, and 22 players got 12 right, meaning 30 people made the honor roll for the first week of the football contest.

Bank of Monticello was this week’s sponsor and young Mr. Parker was presented with a $25 check by Mrs. Bobbi Jean Ozburn.

At first glance it looked like the first week’s contest would be easy, with many of the college games being no-brainers. But, on any Saturday….

The nearly 200 contestants were not uniform in what they missed, but the Georgia faithful were among those who hit a stumbling block.

Likewise, many did not have faith in the local high school teams, and missed on Monticello’s 28-27 win over Pike County. In addition, some Piedmont fans were afraid their Cougars wouldn’t make it after falling to Gatewood last week. They had no reason to worry.

The pro season kicks off this week, and contestants will have to try to pick the winner in a mix of high school, college and professional games. The winner will receive a $25 prize from Monticello Drugs, sponsor of the week.
And, everyone who correctly picks the winners of at least 12 of the contests will have his or her name added to the honor roll to be in the running for a prize package to this year’s Chick-Fil-A Bowl in Atlanta.
