City Finishes Pavillion, Adds Picnic Tables

The city of Monticello continues work on the city parks, and West View Park is looking better than ever with the completion of a covered pavilion and the addition of picnic tables.
The city still plans to add four more swings. Signage and trash receptacles should be in place soon.
The city is also working on improvements at Funderburg Park, with plans to replace basketball goals and install soccer goals.
In its newsletter, the city asked residents to pitch in to take care of the parks, primarily by not trashing them initially, but also by trying to keep others from doing so. The letter included in utility bills criticized vandalism and destruction to the parks, and encouraged residents to take care of the facilities and reminded them that taxpayers foot the bill for the parks and for the repairs and maintenance. Persons interested in volunteering to help with the parks may contact Councilman Bobby Jacobs at 706-468-1113.
