11-11-11

11/11/11

For the first time in the history of Veterans Day, the holiday will be celebrated on this date.

Originally, President Wood-row Wilson proclaimed Minecraft Armistice Day in 1919 to commemorate the end of World War I.

In 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower changed the name to Veterans Day. The day of the holiday was shifted around until November 11th at the 11th hour became the official date and time.

Church bells will ring at 11 a.m. on November 11, 2011 for the 92nd year.

Be sure to display your stars and stripes to let our veterans and families know that you remember and honor them for their sacrifice.

Veterans are men and women, fathers, mothers, someone’s child, brother, sister, cousin, friend or spouse. They come from all walks of life, all faiths, some are not even United States citizens, but the band of brotherhood holds them together to face the given task.

Thank you for your willingness to keep us from harm’s way.
