The End of Summer

And just where did the summer go? I am sure Jasper County kids also want to know.

Although this was a risky question, I asked some of the neighborhood kids, “Are you looking forward to going back to school?”

Jared, who was throwing a tennis ball up in the air, over and over, looked at me and said, “Yeah, school, I’m bored.”

What we need is a woman’s point of view, I asked Payton what she thought. “I want to eat in the lunchroom, their pizza is the best.” Remarkable.

And finally, there was the answer from Brent, “I can hardly wait to get lots of homework and not be able to play computer games.” I felt his brow for fever.
