Attention! Deer, please cross the road where “Deer Crossing” signs are posted. Apparently, Bambi and her brothers and sisters have not gotten that memo.

Already there are reports of deer running amok, hither and thither, in and around Jasper County. One never knows when one or more of these wild beasts will alight from the woods. Deer seem to delight in surprising and getting to see “humans caught in the headlights” for a change.

The Deer Festival is still over a month away. Every deer hunter knows the Deer Festival is the official deer coming out party, but no one sent that invitation to our deer friends either.

Until the local deer read The Monticello News and find out they have arrived at the party too soon, keep your eyes peeled for those white tails.
