Fall Cleaning

It’s house cleaning time for many of us. Fall weather just gives one an ounce more energy to start the dreaded house cleaning.

Tis the season. Is it the cool temperatures? Is it the fact that the holidays are coming? Is it that you don’t want your visiting friends and relatives to see how you live the rest of the year?

In all the advice columns and websites about house cleaning, the writers always write, “Start with a small area and work your way out.” Good advice.

What small area to tackle first? Alas, rearrange and clean the bathroom sink top. That can only lead to where to put the stuff that has accumulated on the sink top while that small area is being cleaned. That “where place” is usually on top of the commode or on the edge of the bathtub, but first, you have to clear off those areas to have somewhere to put the stuff from the sink top. Does this sound like a broken record?

So, you sit and ponder how to rearrange, to clean, when the smartest and most useful method is just load up boxes with the stuff and then find places for the boxes that is not already full of boxes. For simplicity sake, let’s call it the Room.

Maybe 2013 will be the year to clear, that rhymes, a good sign. Now, let’s plan another activity.
