Keep it Real!
To diagnose issues concerning health I have to know what one is consuming on a daily basis. So when people ask me to help them with weight loss, my first requirement is to have them keep a food diary.
This helps me to eliminate any medical issues that may be preventing them from losing weight and gives me the information I need to prescribe a more suitable nutrition and fitness regime.
Sometimes just requiring a client to keep a food journal not only abruptly ends our professional relationship; it also may end their quest to lose weight. Having to write down every morsel of food you eat can be time consuming and for some people too emotionally revealing.
A food journal is much like any journal. It makes a person accountable and honest. It may even divulge the reason you are unable to accomplish your fitness goals. But don’t most rewarding experiences come with tests and challenges?
Keep it real this Christmas season; a most appropriate time to endure to be more honest and accountable. It may not be the ideal time to change eating habits, but it is an effective method of testing your willpower in the midst of seasonal celebrations.
Don’t deprive yourself but make the pledge to document everything you consume. This is not to make you feel guilty, but to empower you. It will make you think about what you eat before you unconsciously and emotionally satisfy a craving.
At the end of the day you can feel confident and self-assured. Watch what happens.
