Happy New Year

Only a few days left and we can kiss 2012 goodbye, mostly a black and white year. No one knows what 2013 will bring, maybe some hot pink, yellow and apple green days. Sure hope so!

Hope is a wonderful four-letter word.

As the lights of Christmas fade, and we try to remember the words to “Auld Lang Syne” in case we are called upon to lead that song on New Years Eve, we should take to heart the words of that old Scottish poem.

Paraphrasing the words, let’s leave the past, the old times and move on, and drink a cup of kindness. No one has to go far from his doorstep, to do something kind. Anonymous kindnesses are the best.

May the road rise up to meet you, may the sun be always at your back, may you give and receive kindness in 2013! And Happy New Year, Jasper County.
