Food for Thought from the Mind of a Teenager

Since mom checked out for spring break, I, Savannah, will take her place—I will try to live up to her expectations. Mom doesn’t badger me about my eating habits anymore because she knows that no matter how many times she tells me I will still be a teenager whom eats ALL the time.

So if perhaps you have a teenager my age or you yourself like to snack non stop here are a few healthy foods. . . When you need energy for work or everyday activities have some chips and salsa with a little bite to it.

The heat from the peppers warms up your body and gets your blood flowing. Pretzels and peanut butter anyone?

If you are feeling a lack of motivation protein filled peanut butter and pretzels will kick you into gear.

Also, berries can spark your memory anytime you have a test. So have a bowl of strawberries and blueberries topped with whipped cream while studying!

Anytime your mind feels like it is out of control and you desperately need to focus to get simple chores done have some walnuts, or any nut really. And the snack that everyone can enjoy, dark chocolate, helps give you a sense of zen anytime of the day. Feeling stressed? Eat chocolate.

So now, you can snack for a purpose and not feel guilty. . . not that teenagers ever do.
