VILLAGE POST OFFICE

Susie Q’s Country Store on Hwy. 11 north is now a “Village Post Office” for the U.S. Postal Service. A number of post office officials from the area and region came to the kick-off celebration and ribbon cutting last Thursday. Sue Leazer and husband, Donnie, (front row) own and operate Susie Q’s and have been in negotiations with the postal service for some time.

Susie Q’s Village Post Office hours of operation throughout the year are Monday–Thursday: 5 a.m.- 9 p.m.; Friday-Saturday: 5 a.m.–9:30 p.m.; Sunday: 8 a.m.–8 p.m. The VPO will likely be very useful to a number of Jasper County residents as mail to Atlanta and any northern addresses may get there quicker mailed from Susie Q’s than from the Monticello post office.

The Mansfield Post Office remains open, but its hours are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2-5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Employees of the store and community members joined the postal service people at the ribbon cutting.
