PA Track Athletes Excel at Region Meet

Emily Hammonds and Logan Partenza helped lead the Piedmont Academy track teams during last week’s region meet.
Hammonds was the runner-up for the High Point Award while Partenza was the High Point Award winner for the boys. They will help lead a strong contingent of Piedmont athletes to the state track meet this week.
Hammonds was the region champion in the 400-meter dash and as part of the 1,600-meter relay team. She was runner-up in the 200-meter dash, 100-meter dash and a member of the 400-meter relay team.
Heather Tyler was region champion in the 1,600-meter run and the long jump and helped the 1,600-meter relay team to a first-place showing. She was also a member of the second place 400-meter relay team.
Amelia Dodson was a member of the 1,600-meter relay team and part of the second-place 400-meter relay. Individually, Dodson was fourth in the 200-meter dash.

Alicia Peek was third in the 800-meter run and Bailyn Whitaker was fourth in the event.
Parker Kelley finished fourth in the 1,600-meter run. Abby Hyde was part of the region champion 1,600-meter relay and with the runner-up 400-meter relay.
For the Piedmont boys, Partenza was region champion in the 800-meter run and the long jump. He was part of the region champion team in the 400-meter relay and part of the third-place 1,600-meter relay team.
Britton Bailey was region champion on the 400-meter relay team. Individually, he was second in the 100-meter dash, third in the 200-meter dash, and was on the third-place 1,600-meter relay quartet.
Austin Bass was second in the 3,200-meter run. Gaven Edge was part of the region championship 400-meter relay team while Cameron Hammock was a member of the 1,600-meter relay.
The Lady Cougars finished as region runner-up. All of these athletes have qualified to compete in Albany May 2-4 at the GISA state meet.
