Man Is Sentenced to 20 Years for Molestation

Rather than go to trial, Brandon Thompson plead guilty in Jasper County Superior Court this past Monday, May 20, to the charge of Aggravated Child Molestation.

Mr. Thompson was sentenced to 20 years with the first five years to be served in confinement and the remainder to be served on probation. And, a fine of $1,000 was imposed.

No trials were scheduled on the Criminal Trial Calendar, with Judge James L. Cline, Jr., presiding, however, the following other individuals plead guilty to charges as indicated and were sentenced as shown below:

• Demetrius Farrar to manufacture of marijuana and possession of marijuana less than one ounce-sentenced to 10 years with four years to be served in confinement and the remainder on probation, and a fine of $1,000.

• Terrie Jean Walker to failure to register as a sex offender and possession of marijuana less than one ounce–sentenced to five years with 60 days to be served in the county jail and the remainder on probation and a fines and fees of $780.

• Lori Lee Davis to driving under the influence of alcohol or less safe–sentenced to 12 months with 24 hours to be served in the county jail and the remainder to be served on probation and fines and fees of $881.

• Johnny W. McCollough to driving under the influence of alcohol less safe–sentenced to 12 months with 72 hours to be served in the county jail with credit for time served and fines and fees of $2,106.

• Dana S. George to simple battery/family violence–sentenced to 12 months to be served on probation.

• Donovan Clemons to false statements–sentenced to 12 months to be served on probation and fines and fees of $730.

• Teresa Faye Ellington to theft by taking–sentenced to five years to be served on probation.

• Kathy I. Carte to criminal trespass and interfering with a 911 call–sentenced to 12 months to be served on probation.

• Joseph David Anglin to reckless driving and improper tires–sentenced to 12 months to be served on probation and fines and fees of $1,442.50.

• Dana S. George to disorderly conduct–sentenced to 12 months to be served on probation and fines and fees of $1,280.

• Jacob B. O’Neill to possession of cocaine and manufacture of marijuana–sentenced to five years to be served on probation and fines and fees of $2,780.

• Noah Austin Hyde to interference with government property–sentenced to four years with 9-/120 days to be served in confinement and the remainder on probation and fines and fees of $780.

• Brandon Williamson to criminal trespassing–sentenced to 12 months to be served on probation and fines and fees of $375.

• Ollie Ponder Mays to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon–sentenced to five years to be served on probation and fines and fees of $780.

Also, Michael Andrew Motes, Tina Marie Motes and Benjamin Lee Perkins failed to appear to answer charges and a bench warrant was issued for their arrest.

In addition, Willie Benjamin had his probation revoked for the new charge of a pedestrian under the influence. Mr. Benjamin had his probation revoked to 45 days in the county jail with credit for time served and upon release to be returned to regular probation.

An additional 53 cases were continued or nolle prosed (not prosecuted).
