Cougars Complete Spring Practice
Piedmont Academy’s football team completed spring practice last week on a positive note, and will now look to summer conditioning as the 2013 season rapidly approaches.
“It was a good spring,” said coach Rhett Farmer. “We found out a lot about who can play fullback and that was one of our main objectives.”
The team is still looking for help at linebacker, the coach said, and that process will continue as the new season draws closer.
“Who plays at linebacker will depend on who we have on the defensive front,” Farmer said.
Another positive from the spring session was the play of the team’s offensive line.
“We had some physical practices and our line stood out,” Farmer said. “We will probably be more of an option team this season as compared to the previous I-formation.”
Summer work is set to begin June 10. Players will take part in practice sessions by position as well as work in the weight room.
“A lot of our summer work will be concentrating on the necessary footwork for the option,” Farmer said.
Piedmont opens the 2013 season Aug. 23, against Westwood at home.
