Leon Davis

Leon Davis, 93, died June 3, 2013.

Mr. Davis was born in Newton County on January 1, 1920 to John T. and Jessie Lee Wilson Davis of Monticello.

He joined James Paschal Baptist Church at an early age.

He was a construction worker. He traveled all around the states.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Louvonia Roland; nine brothers, George Davis, John T. Davis, Jr., Leonard Davis, Reo Davis, Richard Davis, Gene Davis, Addison Jackson, Jack Davis and John Henry Davis.

Survivors include sisters, Annette Tripp and Ollie Robinson, both of Monticello; a brother, Joe K. Davis of Monticello; niece, Doris Moore of Monticello, a special caregiver, Dicie Rooks, of Monticello, and a host of nieces nephews, cousins, and friends.

Services for Mr. Davis were held Monday, June 10 at Springfield Baptist Church in Monticello. Rev. Jimmy Horton officiated. Interment was held at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery, Farrar.

Smith and Sons Funeral Home, 923 Funderburg Drive, Monticello, was in charge of arrangements.
